Grateful Dead HQ are looking back on the summer of 1990 for this week’s “All The Years Live” clip, showcasing a 7/6/90 “Wharf Rat.”
Explained GD legacy manager/archivist David Lemieux, “Debuted on 2/18/71 in Port Chester, NY, ‘Wharf Rat’ was staple of the Dead’s live repertoire since it first appeared. By 1973 and onward, it was generally played toward the end of the second set, in the Jerry ‘ballad slot,’ which included songs like ‘Stella Blue,’ ‘Black Peter,’ ‘Morning Dew,’ and later ‘Standing On The Moon’ and ‘Days Between.'”
Previously, Lemieux and company shared the “China”> “Rider” from this show.

August 7, 2020 at 3:49 pmJerry rocking on the “Rosebud” guitar! My that summer 1990 was HOT! The Kansas City show was 103 degrees before heat index, fun time though! Took my mom and 11 year old sister to the 7/4/90 show. Great WHARF RAT, go JERRY! Dick and Jagger-Itch are truly jealous of Jerry’s PROWESS aren’t they? We also saw the last 3 on this Tour in Chicago at the truly awful World Ampitheater, acoustics there were Horrid! Great shows, last 3 for Brent (RIP)!!!!

August 6, 2020 at 7:37 pmI saw Jerry in the 90’s and I had a great time smokin’ and uh tokin’ with the brohemians but I still got to admit that Mayer is way better and Dead&Co are the true realization of this music. I know all you old “heads” are gonna bitch and moan but you can all suck it because you were probably too high to really listen back then anyway and definitiely too old to hear the be-oo-tee-ful stylings of one Mr. Mayer in all their exquisiteness. Plus he’s got a better look and takes care of himself which matters these days more and more especially with all the viruses and everything. Face it Mayer is the hottest piece of a** the Dead ever brought in. No need to be jealous just cuz y’all are old and can’t hear what good music sound like (not to mention too blind to recognize and admit a hottie when you see on in tight cargo shorts!) BRAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
