In a new clip, a solemn Billy Strings covers “Ready for the Times to Get Better,” a mid-70s country hit originally recorded by Crystal Gayle and written by Allen Reynolds.
The lyrics – “It’s been a too long time/ With no peace of mind/ And I’m ready for the times/ To get better” – perfectly captures America’s current era of pandemic and protest as Strings adds at the end, “Hang in there everybody, times are going to get better.”
Strings is set to hit the road this July for a nine-show, livestream tour through Nashville.
