For this week’s Shakedown Stream pre-show, co-hosts David Lemieux and Gary Lambert were joined by tenured keyboardist Bruce Hornsby who joined the Grateful Dead from 1988 to 1995.

One such performance was the Grateful Dead’s 5/11/91 gig at Shoreline Amphitheatre, which was featured as this week’s Shakedown Stream.

“I’ve been so productive. I’m sort of a self-quarantiner for life, the last many years” Hornsby tells Lemieux and Lambert. “I get up in the morning and get in the studio – where I am now – and start working on maybe writing a new song… woodshedding, practicing modern classical music to inflict on my poor unsuspecting audience.”

Later, Hornsby discusses his work in the indie scene with the likes of Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) as well as his most recent, acclaimed release Absolute Zero.

“Now that can’t help but be the catalyst for more, on an inspirational level,” Hornsby grins. “So I have a new record coming out soon.”
