Rising neo-soul duo Black Pumas have revived a ’90s classic with their new take on Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.”
“To me, ‘Fast Car’ is a song of hope, dreams and a relentless heart to go somewhere and be someone,” explains singer/frontman Eric Burton. “I learned the song when I first began to busk and of the covers that I knew, it garnered the most attention from the random passerby. As a musician and artist, I’m attracted to songs that make us reflect on our daily struggles for making life worth living for.”
Before COVID-19 disrupted the summer’s live music schedule, Black Pumas were set to perform at major festivals like Electric Forest.
They will, however, perform this Wednesday, June 10, on the star-studded A Night For Austin livestream benefit.
