Mike Campbell, best known as the guitarist in Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and later Fleetwood Mac, and his band The Dirty Knobs have announced that they will delay both the release of their debut album Wreckless Abandon and their headlining tour, which was due to begin later in March.
Campbell explained that the postponement was due to health issues. “On Sunday night my doctors discovered some health issues which while fully treatable, need to be addressed before going out on tour,” Campbell wrote in a statement. “The good news, well really it’s great news, is that I’m going to be just fine. The bad news, and I say this with much frustration, is the tour which was scheduled to start next week will need to be postponed and rescheduled for September. Subsequently, we’ll also need to postpone the album release until September 18.”
While they can’t perform at New Orleans Jazz Fest, the band will still join Chris Stapleton’s “All-American Road Show” this summer, and their headlining tour will now begin in September.
Campbell made clear in his statement that tickets purchased for Dirty Knobs’ headline shows will still be good for the rescheduled dates. If fans can’t make it to the new date, their ticket purchase will be refunded.
“I know that many of you made plans to travel to the upcoming shows and I’m so sorry that those plans have been upended,” he wrote. “However, health is the most important thing and I want to bring you the best show possible. I truly appreciate everyone’s understanding.”
