On Feb. 28, Dave Matthews Band opened their 2020 touring schedule at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nev. The show was highlighted by a slew of bust-outs mixed in with DMB classics, as well as a couple of songs that had never been played before by the full band.

The show began with “Granny,” followed by “Grey Street.” After “Do You Remember” and “What Would You Say,” DMB dropped into their first performance of “The Riff” since July 22, 2014. Immediately after, the band treated the crowd to another bustout, the first “Stolen Away on 55th & 3rd” since 2016.

Later in the set, the band moved from their classic “Jimi Thing” into “Tell Me Something Good.” This marked the first ever performance of the Chaka Khan and Rufus cover by Dave Matthews Band proper, although Matthews himself has performed the song in his Dave & Friends side-project (notably including his Dave Matthews & Friends set at Bonnaroo 2004; listen to that here.) Next came another rarity – the first “Beach” ball since 2015.

Before the set closed with a trio of “Crash Into Me,” “Pantala Naga Pampa” > “Rapunzel,” DMB debuted another song that has been played with other projects, “Long Train Runnin’.” (The song originated with bassist Stefan Lessard’s side-project.) The band then encored with one final bustout – the first “Sweet Up and Down” since 2010 – before closing down the night with “Ants Marching.”
