On Jan. 13, Umphrey’s McGee made their debut at The Caverns in Pelham, Tennessee. Fittingly, they dropped into a brief tease and quote of Phish’s “Cavern” during “Utopian Fir.”

The show began with “Bathing Digits” > “The Triple Wide,” followed by “In The Black.” Next, the band started up “Utopian Fir;” however, after a bit of “Fir,” they pivoted quickly to the beginning of Phish’s “Cavern.” Keyboardist Joel Cummins even sang the first few lyrics. Umphrey’s then returned to “Utopian Fir” before transitioning into “Syncopated Strangers.” The set closed with “Remind Me.”

The second frame began with “The Floor” followed by Umphrey’s 2020 debut of “Xmas at Wartime.” Next came two more 2020 debuts: “Robot World” and David Bowie’s “Fame.” Later in the set, the band teased Led Zeppelin’s “Over the Hills and Far Away” during “Nemo.” The set closed with “Last Man Swerving,” and Umphrey’s opted for Flock of Seagulls’ “I Ran” for the encore.
