To celebrate Valentines Day, Grateful Dead HQ has unearthed a clip of “They Love Each Other,” taped live on Dec. 27, 1983 at San Francisco’s namesake Civic Auditorium.

GD archivist/legacy manager David Lemieux describes the track as “one of the few songs in the Dead’s repertoire that underwent a dramatic rearrangement during its lifetime, similar to ‘Friend Of The Devil’ and ‘Loose Lucy’. In 1973, ‘They Love Each Other’ appeared in a peppy arrangement, with a very cool bridge. It was then dropped, only to return in 1976 in a much slower arrangement, without the bridge. It was recorded for Jerry’s Reflections album.”
