Pavement co-founder Stephen Malkmus has a new album on the way, and according to a press release it is “centered around the songwriter’s 12-string acoustic guitar, and informed by a half-century of folk-rock reference points.”

Traditional Techniques will be released on March 6, and Malkmus is already giving fans a taste of the LP with the lead single “Xian Man.”

Malkmus will also hit the road this spring with a new band that, at times, will expand into a sextet.

In the meantime, he’s guitar is also featured on the new Endless Boogie tune, “Jerome.”
