Mike Campbell, best known as a founding member of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers (and, later, as a guitarist in Fleetwood Mac), will release his debut album with his band The Dirty Knobs. The album, titled Wreckless Abandon, is due out on March 20. In addition, the band has released the lead single (and title track) of the album “Wreckless Abandon.” Finally, the band has set a series of U.S. tour dates for this Spring.

The album, which was produced by Campbell and George Drakoulias (The Black Crowes, The Jayhawks), features contributions from Chris Stapleton and fellow Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers founding member Benmont Tench. Klaus Voormann, who created the art for The Beatles’ Revolver, created the artwork for Wreckless Abandon.

According to a press release, “The Dirty Knobs came together nearly 12 years ago, after Campbell met guitarist Jason Sinay at a session and liked the way their guitars sounded together. What began as a less structured project for Campbell to do between The Heartbreakers touring became something else altogether when they added the acclaimed rhythm section of bassist Lance Morrison and drummer Matt Laug.” This album marks the band’s first official release.

The band will also embark on a U.S. tour this Spring, beginning with a show on March 10 in Minneapolis, Minn. The tour includes stops at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl on March 26, The Troubadour in Los Angeles on April 10 and Denver’s Bluebird Theatre on Apr. 15. The dates conclude on April 28 in Tampa, Fla. at The Orpheum.
