The Avett Brothers celebrated the new year in North Carolina with their traditional “Father Time” (Valient Himself of metal band Valient Thorr) and a very special Steve Miller Band cover.

“We did it!” Himself exclaimed on the tail-end of the Avetts’ set, when the clock struck Midnight. The band projected the word “KISS” on their LED screens and played “Auld Lang Syne” before launching into ’70s hit “Fly Like An Eagle,” with Himself on lead vocals.

After a set-closing “Ain’t No Man,” The Avett Brothers encored with “The Traveling Song,” David Childers’ “The Prettiest Thing”, George Jones’ “The Race Is On” and their standout ballad “No Hard Feelings.”
