Gov’t Mule in the new year at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The second set was made up entirely of Beatles covers from the albums Let It Be and Abbey Road as they had teased in Instagram posts ahead of the run. The “encore,” as it is listed on mule.net, was more like a third set, featuring 15 songs and a sit-in by Jimmy Vivino.

The show began with “Mr. Man,” followed by “Lola, Leave Your Light On” and “Unring The Bell.” Later in the set, the band delivered a stunning sequence of “Game Face” > “Mountain Jam” > “Game Face.” “Tastes Like Wine closed the first frame.

The second, Beatles-themed set began with “Get Back,” a Gov’t Mule debut (as were many of the Beatles covers). After “Don’t Let Me Down,” “I’ve Got A Feeling” and “One After 909,” the band played “Dig A Pony” and “Dig A Pony (Reprise)” to usher in the new year, moving into “Auld Lang Syne” as the clock struck midnight. “Come Together, ” “Oh! Darling,” and “Something” came next, followed by two songs that Mule has played before – “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” and “The End” – to close the set.

The “encore” began with “Brighter Days,” followed by “Silent Scream Pt. 2.” Next, Mule dropped into a “Scenes From A Troubled Mind” segment that featured “Starship Trooper” and “The Gates of Delirium” jams. They then returned to “Silent Scream Pt. 2.” Jimmy Vivino then took the stage for a sit-in, providing guitar work on “Sco-Mule,” “Smokestack Lightning” and “Catfish Blues.” “Bad Little Doggie” closed the show.

Gov’t Mule returns to the stage on Jan. 17 for their Island Exodus shows in Jamaica. Check out a complete setlist from their Dec. 31 show below (via mule.net)!
