Following a successful homecoming show over Thanksgiving, southern rock band Blackberry Smoke donated $50,000 to the pediatric cancer research/aid organization CURE Childhood Cancer.

As noted in a recent press release, the cause is close to the band’s heart as drummer Brit Turner’s own daughter is a cancer survivor.

“When [my daughter] Lana was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma, we were told there was very little chance for her survival,” the drummer said. “It was a scary journey for our family, but now that our daughter is thriving, we are raising money for CURE’s important pediatric cancer research and support for other childhood cancer patients and their families.”

Including this year’s $50,000, Blackberry Smoke have raised over $400,000 for children’s cancer research over their career through their fan-oriented “Brothers and Sisters” events.

Added the band via Instagram, “We would like to thank our fans, management, crew and especially all of you that have bought VIP Meet ‘n Greet packages throughout 2019. Your money has given us the opportunity to fund children’s cancer research and help the families that are affected by this terrible disease. We are incredibly humbled by your constant support. Together we will find a cure.”
