Drive-By Truckers will release a new album, entitled The Unraveling, on Jan. 31, 2020. Along with the record announcement, the band also released a brand new single, “Armageddon’s Back In Town.”

The Unraveling will mark Drive-By Truckers’ 12th studio LP and their first new record in over three years. The album takes on the current political climate, according to the band. “If [2016’s American Band] was a warning shot hinting at a coming storm, this one was written in the wreckage and aftermath,” said Truckers’ co-founder Patterson Hood via press release. “I’ve always said that all of our records are political but I’ve also said that ‘politics is personal.’ With that in mind, this album is especially personal.”

In addition to the Truckers’ current lineup – consisting of Hood, co-founder Mike Cooley, bassist Matt Patton, keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Jay Gonzalez and drummer Brad Morgan – The Unraveling also features contributions from The Shins’ Patti King, violinist Kyleen King (Brandi Carlile) and North Mississippi All-stars’ Cody Dickinson.

The band has also announced that it will embark on a world tour in support of the new record.
