The Band’s self-titled 1969 album celebrates its 50th anniversary this year; to honor this, they are releasing newly-remixed stereo and 5.1 surround sound recordings of the classic record, which is available both digitally, in CD and vinyl format, and as part of a massive boxed set.

Along with the remixed original tracks, the new audio – remixed by renowned producer Bob Clearmountain and overseen by Robbie Robertson – will include 13 outtakes and The Band’s legendary Woodstock performance, which has never before been released.

This release is reminiscent of The Band’s celebration of Music From Big Pink‘s 50th anniversary last year. According to the band, the new release of The Band is available “as a Super Deluxe 2CD/Blu-ray/2LP/7-inch vinyl boxed set with a hardbound book; 2CD, digital, 180-gram 2LP black vinyl, and limited edition 180-gram 2LP ‘tiger’s eye’ color vinyl packages.”
