After their police-themed Halloween gig, Umphrey’s McGee offered two additional shows (plus a VIP set) at The Fillmore in Philadelphia this weekend, welcoming special guests like saxophonist James Casey (Trey Anastasio Band) and drummer Marlon Lewis (Star Kitchen) as well as busting out Rage Against The Machine’s “Bombtrack” (last played 12/30/16) to celebrate their impending reunion.

UM’s Nov. 1 gig started off strong with a three-part “Wizard Burial Ground”> “Resolution”> “The Floor” jam (the middle track also included a jam on Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’).

The second half, on the other hand, kicked off with “Believe The Lie,” which contained an intro from The Chantays’ “Pipeline.” From there, Umphrey’s McGee offered “Phil’s Farm” followed by a pairing of “Miami Virtue”> “Smell The Mitten,” before closing with “Divisions.” UM closed the show with a fake-out tease of Ween’s “Freedom of ’76” before shifting into George Michael’s hit “Freedom! ’90.”

After a private set for VIPs, UM’s final night in Philly opened by continuing the “Wizard Burial Ground” from the evening prior. Standout set one jams included “The Linear”> “Walletsworth” as well as “Preamble”> “Mantis”> “Miss Tinkle’s Overture,” before closing with the aforementioned Rage Against The Machine cut. Along with drummer Marlon Lewis of opening act Star Kitchen, UM offered a heavy, fourth-ever version of RATM’s “Bombtrack,” which originally appeared on the politically-minded band’s self-titled 1992 LP.

T.A.B. saxophonist James Casey jumped onstage for the beginning of Nov. 2’s second half, adding his horn to “It Doesn’t Matter.”

Later, Umphrey’s McGee closed with “In The Kitchen” (containing pieces of Jimi Hendrix’s “Wind Cries Mary),” and segued into “Mantis.”

They encored their final night in Philadelphia with longtime live cut “Pay The Snucka.”
