Lotus have shared a new track, “Leave a Little Room for Jesus,” a song that originated during some 2014 writing sessions for the band’s 2016 album, Eat the Light, and features guest vocals from former Motet singer Jans Ingber.
As Lotus bassist Jesse Miller explains to Live For Live Music, who premiered the track today, “I wanted to ride the line between a Motown groove and something that sampled one of those grooves. Classic sounds like Rhodes, a triangle and conga percussion groove, and thinned out rhythm guitar slowly grow to include synths and dub effect treatments.” Listen to “Leave a Little Room for Jesus” here.
Lotus have also announced that their post-Halloween show at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium on Nov. 2 will be a Flaming Lips tribute dubbed Psychedelic Robot Battle at the Gates of Hell (which to two tracks from the Lips’ landmark 2002 album, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots). That show will also feature support from sax-fueled outfit Moon Hooch. Tickets can be purchased here.
