John Bell by Stuart Levine
Widespread Panic’s John Bell has revived his Hannah’s Buddies charity event, which raises money for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) research.
Started in 2000 and last held in 2014, the event encompasses a golf tournament and silent auction, as well as a live “JB & Friends” performance that has previously featured jam scene regulars like Warren Haynes, Col. Bruce Hampton, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, North Mississippi All-Stars, Robert Randolph and more.
According to the Hannah’s Buddies website, Bell was inspired to start the event when his goddaughter Hanna was diagnosed with SMA, and over the years the event has raised over $2 million toward research.
Specific details on 2020’s Hannah’s Buddies will be available in the coming weeks, but organizers encourage potential sponsors to get in tour at [email protected]
