Brittany Howard will release her debut solo album, Jaime, next week on Sept. 20 via ATO Records, and the Alabama Shakes frontwoman has shared another preview of the effort today with new single “13th Century Metal.”

The frenetic track features a staccato keyboard line over a pounding drum set, with Howard speaking a sort of sermon of love over the top. The vocalist declares, “I dedicate my spirit in the service of what is good and fair and righteous,” and later proclaims, “We are all brothers and sisters.” A powerful, simple chorus of “Give into love” harmonies comes in later, marking the only true singing on the track.

Listen to “13th Century Metal” below, and watch a Danny Clinch–directed live-in-studio video with Howard and her touring band here.

Howard has also announced she will be appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert the night of Sept. 26, along with adding a batch of November tour dates to her fall 2019 schedule, taking Howard to western cities like Denver, Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco and more.
