A new documentary on experimental trio Medeski Martin & Wood, aptly titled Not Not Jazz, will premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival early next month.
The premiere, set for Oct. 4, will be followed by a short solo set from drummer Billy Martin, along with a fan Q&A. According to Martin, Not Not Jazz, directed by Jason Miller, offers “a deeper insight to our music making process, the trials and tribulations as a band, vintage footage from the early years (in Hawaii, at CBGB’s, etc…) and more surprises.”
The drummer also notes that the documentary includes footage of MMW’s recording sessions for a new studio album that, Martin says, “should be out by 2020.”
Tickets to the Woodstock Film Festival premiere of Not Not Jazz can be purchased here.

'bout time
September 17, 2019 at 12:44 pmThis sounds fantastic. Love these guys and their story, I look forward to the release. Also, really hoping for some core MMW activity (just the trio). I’ve been weary that these guys might just disappear into their side projects, which would be a crime!
