Lucy Dacus – who splits her time between her solo work and the supergroup boygenius – has shared a studio cover of Bruce Springsteen’s hit “Dancing in the Dark.”

“Happy early birthday to The Boss, and happy birthday to my dad, the biggest Bruce fan I know, and the reason I’ve listened to The Boss since birth.” Dacus said after dropping the song on Thursday. “I resisted it when I was younger as a rebellion to my dad’s taste, but I have come to love his music on my own time. His lyricism is embedded in my own songwriting inextricably at this point.”

This take on “Dancing in the Dark” was released as a part of Dacus’ 2019 song series, which also includes an unexpected cover of “La Vie En Rose” from the A Star is Born soundtrack and two new originals.
