The Who opened up a new batch of tour dates at New York’s Madison Square Garden, and the legendary UK rockers offered up a brand-new tune that will appear on their upcoming studio album.
The first part of the evening saw The Who teaming up with their touring orchestra for classics like “Pinball Wizard” and “Who Are You,” along with another new-album cut, “Hero Ground Zero,” which they debuted earlier this summer.
After a band-only middle portion of the show, which included an acoustic duo version of “Won’t Get Fooled Again” from Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, the orchestra came back into the fold for the debut of “Big Cigars,” one of the tracks on the upcoming album, which will follow up The Who’s 2006 effort, Endless Wire. The group later closed out the evening with a “Love Reign O’er Me” that featured a “New York State of Mind” intro, followed by a “Baba O’Rily” finale.
Check out the full setlist below, along with fan-shot video from the night (via Jim Powers on YouTube). Next up for The Who is a show in Toronto tomorrow night. See their full schedule here.

September 3, 2019 at 1:12 pmLooking forward the new WHO album/CD in November. “Big Cigars” is the same song “Guantanamo” included on the latest Pete Townshend greatest hits collection. The set list is heavy on Tommy and Quadrophenia songs and they may exclude some to include more new songs or rarely played.
