After tickets for the Nov. 9 Jeff Austin Tribute “What The Night Brings” sold out almost immediately, organizers have decided to move the event to a larger venue, outside of its originally-planned city of Denver.
“Everyone is so honored and touched by the overwhelming support for this event, tickets sold out in minutes,” reads an official announcement. “Thankfully we are able to move this show to [Broomfield, Colo.’s] 1STBANK Center, so we can accommodate more people to celebrate our friend Jeff Austin. All tickets will be honored. For those unhappy with this move, refunds will be available at point of purchase.”
What The Night Brings will feature some of the most well-known acts the bluegrass and jam scene, many of whom shared stages with Austin. From his former bandmates in Yonder Mountain String Band, to his 30db cohort Brendan Bayliss to friends like Bill Nershi and Keith Moseley of SCI and Keller Williams. Additional performers include Billy Strings, Greensky Bluegrass, Hot Rize, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Travelin’ McCourys, Leftover Salmon (acoustic), Railroad Earth and more.
“The outpouring of support and love has been tremendous. I want to thank everyone who has supported the fund,” Austin’s wife Devlyn said via press release in late July. “It’s truly amazing, and it’s allowed our family to begin processing the unimaginable. We hope that this show will be a chance for everyone to come together, remember Jeff, and enjoy the music and the musicians that were so close to him.”
Austin co-founded Yonder Mountain String band in 1998, and quickly ushered the band into notoriety within the bluegrass scene and beyond. After departing the band, he toured his his namesake band and remained one of the most admired mandolinists on the scene. His death was confirmed by his family on June 25. He is survived by Devlyn, and their young children Lily Rose, Penelope and Jude Patrick.
The new batch of tickets for What The Night Brings will go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 7th at 10 a.m. MT with a strict limit of four tickets per person. The entire venue will be GA, with “the floor will be accommodated on first come, first serve basis.”
Tickets will be available here.

August 7, 2019 at 10:52 pmThis tribute show was NEVER going to be held at the Mission Ballroom, and anyone that can read between the lines knows it. Simply some insider “back scratching” so that MB could get some publicity, being that they are a new venue. Highly doubtful that some 3hrs after the tickets went on sale, they already worked out all the legal logistics to move to a different venue. No harm, no foul though in my opinion. I’m glad Jeff’s family will benefit from a bigger venue.

August 6, 2019 at 9:22 pmJeff was an integral part of YMSB.
At one point they were the best touring act to see. It’s a shame that it had to end. Obviously both parties had something to do with it. I miss this band more than I did when Jerry passed. Brothers need to be brothers, even in the worst of times. I can only reminisce. That should not be the case. YMSB can’t even sell out a drive in movie now. Hold onto family, if they need help, for crying out loud get them help. RIP Jeff, you were the best showman of our time. The scene is dying with all this plastic digital non-instrument playing music put out now. I am saddened and wish for days that were not that really long ago.
