The String Cheese Incident kicked off their weekend at Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday evening, and the band took advantage of having opener Cory Wong around by welcoming the guitarist and Vulfpeck collaborator and members of his band for a couple of tunes, including a Stevie Wonder classic.

After opening the night with “Little Hands” and fitting a cover of The Band’s “Ophelia” into the first set, String Cheese welcomed out Wong, his keyboardist Kevin Gastonguay and his percussionist Petar Janjic for a rendition of Eddie Harris’ “Freedom Jazz Dance” before closing the set themselves with “Vertigo” and “Tinder Box.”

SCI jumped back into the collaborative action with the opener for set two, which saw the band welcome Wong and his band—including a three-piece horn section—for a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish,” led by Michael Kang on vocals. The band later closed out the performance with an encore of Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On.”

Check out the full setlist below as it appears in our Box Scores section, along with pro-shot video of each set opener (including the Wonder cover) via nugs.net’s webcast. The String Cheese Incident return to Red Rocks this evening for round two of three. Tonight’s show will feature a collaborative opening set as SCI and Keller Williams celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album Breathe with a full performance of the 1999 effort.
