A new documentary on David Crosby, Remember My Name, is set for release this Friday, July 19, and the iconic singer-songwriter stopped by The Tonight Show yesterday, along with the film’s producer, Cameron Crowe, for a performance (with The Roots as his backing band) and interview in which Crosby spoke about the documentary, Jim Morrison and more, as well as the possibility of a reunion with his legendary group, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

After Fallon mentions that Crosby doesn’t speak with the other members of the group and asks about a reunion, Crosby states: “There’s always a chance. Never say never.” The singer also notes, “There’s no bad stuff in my heart about any of those guys. I made too much great music with them. I love ’em.” Crosby admits that the musicians “bashed heads” and were all “awful” to each other at times.

The fans are what Crosby mentions as a possible main catalyst for reunion thoughts, however. “‘Ohio’ is stuck in their minds,” he says, referring to the classic CSNY protest tune. “[Now] would be a great time for us to be out singing that.” Crosby then explains that a “get out the vote” tour would be the most attractive to him for any sort of reunion outing.

Along with playing his own “Long Time Gone” (off Crosby, Stills & Nash’s 1969 self-titled debut album), Crosby spoke with Fallon and Crowe about Crowe interviewing Crosby when the former was a teenage rock journalist (Fallon also asks Crowe about the upcoming musical version of his semi-biographical movie, Almost Famous, and Crowe tells Fallon that he is welcome to reprise his role from the film in the musical whenever he wants) and Crosby’s relationship with iconic Doors frontman Jim Morrison, prompting Crosby to tell the story of the time Morrison took off Crosby’s sunglasses while he was on acid. “You know, I never really liked him much after that,” Crosby says. “You don’t do that to people who are on acid.”
