To prepare for The Peach Music Festival 2019, we’re looking back at one of the most fiery sit-ins from last year’s celebration at Pennsylvania’s Montage Mountain.

On Thursday, July 17, 2018, during their daytime set at the fest, Baltimore-based funk-rock outfit Pigeons Playing Ping Pong joined forces with guitar phenom Marcus King for an electric take on Pigeons’ own tune “Lightning.”

Though King’s stoic-yet-commanding stage presence didn’t quite match up with Pigeons’ rowdy, head-banging antics, the musicians all synced up where it counts, making for an engaging, solo-filled, nearly 14-minute run of “Lightning,” featuring plenty of licks from King, who was able to show a slightly different side to his playing within the angular riffs and beats of PPPP’s music.

The Peach Music Festival 2019 is scheduled for July 25-28. For tickets and more information visit their official website. This year’s lineup includes Phil Lesh & Friends, Trey Anastasio Band, The String Cheese Incident, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and many more.
