High Sierra Music Festival returned to Quincy, CA, this past weekend, and two of the event’s headliners, Umphrey’s McGee and Greensky Bluegrass, both welcomed saxophonist Skerik to augment their performance.

On Saturday evening, Umphrey’s McGee closed out the main stage with a one-set performance that saw the band collaborate with Skerik (who was at High Sierra to play with the Emerald Quintet, featuring Stanton Moore, Scott Metzger, Robert Walter and Andy Hess) on a set-ending cover of David Bowie’s classic “Let’s Dance.” Umphrey’s then returned for a rare festival encore, offering takes on “The Triple Wide,” “Hajimemashite” and “1348,” which they’d begun earlier in their performance.

Greensky followed up UM’s set with their own main-stage set on Sunday evening, which included a tribute to late bluegrass musicians Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band) and Andy Goessling (of Railroad Earth) with “Brothers & Sisters.” Later on in the set, Skerik emerged again for three tunes, “Jaywalking,” “Gumboots” and “Run or Die.”

Check out the weekend’s setlists below. Next up for both Umphrey’s McGee and Greensky are slots at West Virginia’s 4848 Festival, which kicks off July 11.
