After a headline-grabbing 75-minute, single song set on Thursday, The String Cheese Incident kept the party going on Friday night at Electric Forest offering two sets, including the first “Ten Miles to Tulsa” since 2003.
The show kicked off with one of SCI’s newer tunes from their SoundLab – “Vertigo” – and quickly moved through a pairing of their original “Eye Know Why” and Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” (last played
Then came the aforementioned “Ten Miles to Tula” bust-out, before the band closed out their first half with a “Hi Ho No Show”> “Close Your Eyes”> “Tinder Box” segment.
SCI’s second set began with a fun “Outside Inside,” complete with teases of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Mountain Jam.” Bill Nershi was sure to lead the crowd in their traditional, hollerin’ “Group Hoot,” before they performed the Michael Travis-penned, politically-minded track “Illegal.”
“Illegal” bled into fan-favorite “Texas,” which segued in and out of a “Candles Jam” to celebrate the 21st birthday of Bill Nershi’s daughter Lauren.
Later, the band closed their first show on the Electric Forest main stage with a pairing of “Sirens” and their newest single “All We Got.”
Electric Forest will continue through Sunday night, with SCI playing their final sets on Saturday.
