Lettuce’s two-part horn section of Ryan Zoidis and Eric “Benny” Bloom are branching out into the natural wine game, opening a new distribution company called Sauvage Selections.

“Wine has always been a big part of my life. I feel it has different energies than other forms of alcohol and doesn’t cloud me when I’m trying to get artistically creative,” Bloom said via press release. “I’ve been drinking wine for over 20 years, however, only in the last five has my love and deep appreciation for low-intervention and organically made wine come to fruition. I go to great lengths to eat organically and leave as small of a carbon footprint as I can on this planet. Why would I knowingly support companies that do not farm organically and spray their grapes with herbicides and fungicides? Even if you don’t care about the ecological impact, at least know that these thoughtfully-made wines are full of life and taste so much more vibrant and exciting.”

As per the official announcement, “Sauvage Selections will feature a diverse selection of wines through natural wine importers Zev Rovine, which carries beautifully made wines from France, Italy, Slovenia and Austria. They’ll also carry wines from Selections de la Vina, who feature naturally produced Spanish wines, as well as three natural California producers: Dirty Rowdy, Forlorn Hope and Subject To Change. Bloom and Zoidis hope to make wine less intimidating and more accessible and fun for the people of Colorado, whose healthy, active lifestyles perfectly align with the many health benefits of natural wine.”

Ziodis and Bloom’s selections are available now in Colorado, and they will also hold a special launch party at Denver’s Cervantes’ Other Side on Monday, June 24.

“The wines we’ll be bringing to Colorado represent what we like to drink,” Zoidis concludes. “We’ve chosen these wines for their energy, purity, honesty, passion and ability to transport the drinker to the place the wine was made. It’s the equivalent of choosing an organically-grown, carefully-sourced, thoughtfully-prepared meal over a processed meal with pesticides, preservatives and additives.  We’re looking forward to bringing pure wine and pure music to Colorado for years to come!”
