Just a couple weeks ago, Bruce Springsteen announced he will release his new solo album, Western Stars, June 14, and The Boss has already hinted at a possible next recording project, revealing to Martin Scorsese during a Sunday conversation in LA promoting their Netflix film Springsteen On Broadway that Springsteen has written nearly a full album of songs for his longtime backing outfit.

As Variety reports, the famed director was speaking with Springsteen about songwriting inspiration, something Springsteen had had trouble with in the recent past when it came to creating material for the E Street Band.

“Whenever I really have written something that I felt has some quality to it, there’s always that little piece of ‘I’m not exactly sure where that came from,” Springsteen said. “I’ve spent about seven years without writing anything for the band. And I said, ‘Well, of course… you’ll never be able to do that again!’ And then about a month or so ago, I wrote almost an album’s worth of material for the band. And it came out of just… I mean, I know where it came from, but at the same time, it just came out of almost nowhere. And it was good, you know. I had about two weeks of those little daily visitations, and it was so nice.

“It makes you so happy,” he continued. “You go, ‘Fuck, I’m not fucked, all right? There’ll be another tour!”

Springsteen confirmed late last year that he would not be touring with the E Street Band in 2019, continuing their break from the road since they finished touring The River in 2017.
