Beale Street Music Festival returned to Memphis, TN’s Tom Lee Park on Friday, kicking off the 2019 gathering with a day of music that featured a headlining set from Dave Matthews Band, who welcomed surprise guest saxophonist Kirk Whalum for the first time ever.

The two sit ins came in the latter half of the set, when Matthews and company brought out Whalen—who’s best known for his longtime work with Whitney Houston, including soloing on the studio cut of “I Will Always Love You”—for their live staples “Jimi Thing” and “What Would You Say.” The set also features DMB favorites like “So Much to Say,” “Too Much,” “Ants Marching” and a “Grey Street” encore.
