This Thursday, April 25, NOLA Brewing will help open up the city-wide festivities around this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with a special funk tribute to Jimi Hendrix featuring North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson, keyboardist John Medeski, Dumpstaphunk bassist Tony Hall, The Revivalists’ pedal-steel player Ed Williams, guitarist Jonathan “Boogie” Long and drummer Terence Higgins, who’s played with Dirty Dozen Brass Band and in Medeski’s Mad Skillet group

The event, dubbed Hendrix, Heads and Tails, will also feature the music of Talking Heads as performed by Gravity A with Cliff Hines, along with crawfish from McClure’s Barbecue, and will take place at NOLA Brewing. Tickets and more information can be found here.

Set to play that event are Lil Baby Jesus Peasant Party (with members of Lettuce, Break Science and Pretty Lights), DMD (Daru Jones, Marcus Marchado and Doug Wimbish with Ed Williams, Maurice “Mo Betta” Brown, Nigel Hall and Khris Royal), Roosevelt Collier’s NOLA Get Down, Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet, Benny and the Late Bloomers and more.
