On Wednesday, April 10, The Claypool Lennon Delirium opened their Spring tour with a sold-out gig at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall.

And while the duo opened the show with Pink Floyd’s “Astronomy Domine” and showcased a large swath of material from their recent LP South of Reality, the real highlight came when Rush bassist and Canadian royalty Geddy Lee made a surprise appearance to perform on a cover of The Beatles’ Revolver cut “Tomorrow Never Knows.”

After Lee slipped onstage, he and Claypool enjoyed some nice dueling basslines while Sean Lennon covered guitar and vocals on the song, originally written by his father John Lennon and Paul McCartney in 1966.

The Claypool-Lennon-Lee cover stretched well over nine minutes with Claypool visibly excited to have the Rush bassist on board, tipping his cap and leaving the stage early to give Lee the spotlight.

“It was such a blast to jam with these talented guys and most especially to appear with my pal .. the inimitable Les Claypool,” Lee wrote afterwords via Instagram. “Thanks for the awesome show boys!”
