On Friday evening, Umphrey’s McGee helped open up the inaugural Aprés festival in Aspen, CO, with the first headlining set of the weekend, following up their Thursday-night performance at Aspen’s Belly Up that featured special guest Jason Hann of The String Cheese Incident.
The sit in took place at the outset of set two at Belly Up, when the SCI percussionist emerged for UM’s first “Bright Lights, Big City” of 2019. The set also saw the band weave in and out of “Mantis” and offer their rendition of the Allman Brothers Band’s classic “Jessica.”
Last night, Umphrey’s moved to The Aprés for their headlining set (The String Cheese Incident will also headline the festival with performances on Saturday and Sunday). The band opened up with live staple “Plunger” and fit in a cover of The Police’s “When the World Is Running Down You Make the Best of What’s Still Around.”
See both Aspen setlists below. Next up for Umphrey’s McGee is a slot at South Carolina’s Trondossa Music Festival later this month.
