After collaborating on the 2005 EP In the Reins Calexico and Iron & Wine have formed a more perfect union and scheduled the release of their first joint album, Years to Burn.

According to a press release, “Years to Burn was recorded in Nashville with noted producer Matt Ross-Spang over the course of five days at Sound Emporium, a fabled studio founded in the sixties by Cowboy Jack Clement and the site of countless landmark sessions in country and rock over the ensuing decades.”

The LP’s first single – “Father Mountain” – definitely embodies that Americana country spirit, with acoustic guitars twanging beneath layered vocals.

Years to Burn is set for a June 14 release via Sub Pop. Pre-order it here.
