On Wednesday night, guitarist and former Gregg Allman Band musical director Scott Sharrard hosted the first of two celebrations of the Allman Brothers Band’s legendary album At Fillmore East at Brooklyn Bowl (the second celebration is scheduled for March 15 at Pennsylvania’s Ardmore Music Hall).

The evening also feature founding ABB drummer Jaimoe, drummer Rich Pagano, Dopapod guitarist Rob Compa, keyboardist Peter Levin, keyboardist Eric Finald, Ratdog saxophonist Kenny Brooks, and guitarist Tash Neal, as well as late additions Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires.

Whereas the first set featured Sharrard’s own material, like opener “High Cost of Loving You”and many others off his 2018 LP Saving Grace, the second set featured a complete recreation of the Allman Brothers’ famed At Fillmore East.

After the band jammed through classics like “Statesboro Blues,” “Done Somebody Wrong” and “Stormy Monday,” they welcomed their first guests, Compa and Brooks, for “You Don’t Love Me” and “Hot’Lanta.” Things really took off when Isbell emerged for a scorching version of “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” and as the singer-guitarist took a quick break, Finland hopped on keys for a massive “Whipping Post” jam that contained segues in and out of “Les Brers In A Minor” and “Mountain Jam.”

The collective encored the show with Eat A Peach cut “One Way Out,” with Isbell and Shires taking center stage.
