The Hold Steady have shared their first new music of 2019 in the form of new track “The Last Time That She Talked to Me,” continuing the New York-based band’s series of stand-alone singles released in the past year.

The song, which the band played this past fall at Brooklyn Bowl, will be available on streaming services this Friday, March 8, and is currently available via Bandcamp for listening and purchase, with proceeds going toward the K+L Foundation, which benefits the family of “Jersey” Mike Van Jura. The band describes Van Jura, who passed away unexpectedly in 2012 at 36, as the “unofficial leader” of their fans in The Unified Scene.

“The Last Time That She Talked to Me,” which was recorded in Woodstock, NY, with producer/musician Josh Kaufman, also features guest horn players Stuart Bogie and Dave Nelson, plus additional backing vocals from Annie Nero. Listen here.
