After an international run that included sun, surf and a sit-in by their pal Keller Williams, the String Cheese Incident closed their Jamaican Incident earlier this week with two rocking sets and a very special Bob Marley bust out.
The band kicked off their final evening in the tropics with their own “One Step Closer,” and kept the good vibes coming by fusing throwback jam “Black and White” with Song In My Head‘s “Can’t Wait Another Day.”
Some of set’s biggest improvisational moments came with a “These Waves”> “Djibouti Bump”> “Way Back Home”> “Bend Down Low” jam, which eventually found a set-ending crescendo in “Rollover.”
The second half opened with the SCI classic “Miss Brown’s Teahouse,” and gave way to the aforementioned Marley bust out – “I Shot The Sheriff,” last played 10/15/15 – before finding its way back to the original opening tune. SCI kept the jam going with a segue into “Nothing But Flowers”> “Beautiful” which bled into “Midnight Moonlight,” as made famous by New Riders of the Purple Sage.
A stand alone “Boogie On Reggae Woman” had the crowd grooving to the Jamaican vibes, and SCI closed set two with a delightful “Jellyfish”> “Colliding” segment.
The band encored their final show in Jamaica with a soulful “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.”
