Singer-songwriters Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst have teamed up to form a new project, Better Oblivion Community Center, and the duo released a full surprise album today via Dead Oceans, just before they made their live debut with a performance of one of the LP’s tracks on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The self-titled album, which can be heard below, combines the songwriting and singing talents of both Bridgers, who recently teamed up with the modern-folk trio boygenius, and Oberst, known for multiple projects including Bright Eyes. The eclectic collection of tracks range from introspective acoustic textures to more rock-leaning sections, with contributions from guest musicians like Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner, touring Jack White drummer Carla Azar, guitarist Christian Lee Hutson, bassist Anna Butterss and the Dawes rhythm section of Wylie Gelber and Griffin Goldsmith. Hutson also helped with songwriting on two tracks, and Oberst collaborator Taylor Hollingsworth wrote closing track “Dominos.”

Listen to Better Oblivion Community Center below and watch the band’s performance of “Dylan Thomas” on The Late Show (they will also play CBS This Morning this Saturday, January 26). Physical copies of the record will be available February 22 and can be pre-ordered here.
