Gov’t Mule’s Island Exodus X continued in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, on Tuesday with a special “Q & Play” set from frontman Warren Haynes, who offered a guest-filled performance that included stories from the guitarist and singer and questions from the audience.

Following up Monday night’s Mule show that featured a number of guests, Haynes welcomed back guitarists Lukas Nelson and Duane Betts, plus longtime collaborator and saxophonist Ron Holloway, Betts’ slide guitarist Johnny Stachela and frequent Mule backing singers Machan Taylor and Mini Carlsson.

The guest spots began around halfway through the set, when Betts came out for a cover of Jim Croce’s “Roller Derby Queen” and the Allman Brothers Band’s “Seven Turns” (written by Betts’ father Dickey). Next up was a cover of Willie Nelson’s “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” with both Nelson and Holloway, followed by Neil Young’s “Helpless” with Nelson, Betts, Stachela, Taylor and Carlsson. Finally, the set wrapped up with Betts, Nelson and Holloway helping out on Bob Dylan’s “It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry.”
