Ryan Adams is prepping for a busy year, as the singer-songwriter has announced his plans to release three full-length albums this year, starting with Big Colors on April 19, and while little information on the albums has been shared so far (save two singles that debuted on radio stations last week), Adams has recently shared some photos on Twitter from his PaxAm studios that point to collaborations with both Bob Weir and John Mayer.

First up was a trio of photos posted yesterday showing Mayer playing guitar for Adams and bassist/producer Don Was at PaxAm, captioned by Adams thusly: “How lucky to have such an incredible, unbelievable musician and friend & a handsome one at that to play on #BigColors He brought the heat, folks, as usual. We love ya @JohnMayer.” Adams later noted that Mayer appears on the Big Colors track “Fuck the Rain,” which will be available next week.

Earlier today, Adams followed that up by posting a photo of himself and Grateful Dead guitarist Weir at PaxAm (Weir’s also a bandmate of both Mayer and Was in Dead & Company and Wolf Bros, respectively). Adams coyly writes that Weir was at the studio “a few weeks ago…for a secret thing.” It remains to be seen whether that “secret thing” was an album track or something else.

Adams has shared the stage with Mayer in the past on his own “Come Pick Me Up,” and he’s long been vocal about his appreciation for the Dead, covering many of their songs over the years and even performing with Phil Lesh & Friends.
