Longtime fan group NYC Freaks will once again present their Freaks Ball next month, and the event, set for next month, will feature a new project from local multi-instrumentalist Dave Harrington—one half of Darkside with Nicholas Jaar—called Drums –> Space.

Harrington’s set will see him collaborate with noted jazz drummer Kenny Wolleson, Shahzad Ismaily and more, and Freaks Ball XIX will also feature music from Smokey Hormel’s band Smokey’s Round Up, plus a late-night performance from afrofunk group Super Yamba, visuals from Macrodose and a food truck from Calexico restaurant.

The Ball is set for Brooklyn’s Bell House on February 9, marking the first iteration not held at Brooklyn Bowl since 2010. As of now, it will also be the first time since 2002 that guitarist Scott Metzger hasn’t played a Freaks Ball since 2002 and one of only a handful of Balls without Joe Russo (Russo and Metzger’s Almost Dead debuted at the Ball in 2013).

Proceeds from Freaks Ball XIX will go toward the Rodney Speed Scholarship at the Berklee College of Music.
