After welcoming guests all weekend, The String Cheese Incident brought their New Year’s run to a close in Broomfield, Colo. Monday night, playing three sets solo and even offering a new original.

The band kicked off their first set with an “Outside Inside”> “Bollymunster” segment and also offered their new tune “Gone Crooked,” which was released in October 2018 and written by bassist Kieth Moseley and musician Rayland Baxter.

Later, the band served up crowd favorite “Joyful Sound” which bled into Rush’s “Tom Sawyer” (last played July 26, 2015) to end the set.

SCI started the second set with the live debut of a new original dubbed “Into The Blue.” As drummer Michael Travis recently told Jambands.com, the band has quite a few new originals in the chamber. “We have like 15 new songs now, and we’ve only played about two thirds of them,” he said. “We’re just trying to enter the 25th year with a new, revived, explosive version of ourselves.”

Following versions of “Let’s Go Outside” and “One Step Closer,” the band closed their second outing with a “Windy Mountain”> “Sirens” jam as well as a “Best Feeling”> “Rosie” segment.

For set three, the band chose Song In My Head cut “Colliding” to lead them into the new year, and entered 2019 with a massive “Rollover” jam containing “The Big Reveal” as well as Talking Heads “This Music Be The Place.”

SCI closed their New Year’s run with Round The Wheel classic “Good Times Around the Bend,” leaving the crowd and the musicians onstage with an eagerness for a bright future.
