The Klezmatics have lined up a series of special shows timed with Hanukkah. The renowned klezmer outfit will celebrate the Festival of Lights with a swing through the Northeast, presenting “Woody Guthrie’s Happy Joyous Hanukkah.” Their set of music will focus in on Guthrie’s Jewish-themed lyrics, which were inspired by his mother-in-law, the Yiddish poet Aliza Greenblatt. The four-date run will feature stops at  South Orange, NJ’s SOPAC (11/29), Troy, NY’s Troy Savings Band Music Hall (12/1), Brooklyn, NY’s Murmrr Theater (12/2) and Mamaroneck, NY’s Emelin Theatre (12/6). The Brooklyn date, which will also feature Susan McKeown, is particularly appropriate since the Murmrr Theater is located at the Union Temple of Brooklyn. In advance of the run, The Klezmatics are also offering a new video of the title song from their album of the same name, Woody Guthrie’s Happy Joyous Hanukkah!
