Adding to a long list of featured performers on their inaugural tour, Bob Weir & Wolf Bros welcomed John Kadlecik to the stage on Monday night in Washington, DC.

Following a first half that was bookended by Grateful Dead favorites “Jack Straw” and “U.S. Blues” (and also contained Blue Mountain‘s “Lay My Lily Down,” Bobby & The Midnites’ “Josephine” and Donovan’s “Sunshine Superman”) John K appeared in the middle of set two.

Weir, Don Was and Jay Lane began the second half in their standard trio format, playing Bobby Darin’s ’60s hit “Artificial Flowers” and the John Perry Barlow-penned “Black Throated Wind.” From there, Kadlecik jumped in for a “Playing in the Band” jam that bled into “Scarlet Begonias.”

John K left the stage for “Two Djinn,” “I Need A Miracle,” “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall” and “Throwing Stones,” but returned for the two-set encore of “Playing in the Band” reprise and “Touch of Grey.”

In addition to his history as a founding member of Dark Star Orchestra, Kadlecik logged several years with Weir in Furthur and continues to play occasionally with Phil Lesh & Friends.
