Phil Lesh has announced he will return to Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre this spring for another show with frequent collaborators The Terrapin Family Band at the famed venue, with support from bluegrass outfit The Infamous Stringdusters.
“Phil Lesh is a legend, in every sense of the word,” writes Stringdusters bassist and vocalist Travis Book on the band’s Facebook announcement for the show. “To see him play is an honor, to share the same space with him a privilege, and to share the stage is beyond words. We’re truly grateful for the opportunity to perform at the world’s most iconic venue with one of the world’s most iconic bass players and musicians.”
Lesh, The Terrapin Family Band and the Stringdusters will play Red Rocks in Morrison, CO, on May 29, 2019. A ticket pre-sale begins this Wednesday, November 14, at 10am MST, with general ticket sales starting this Friday, November 16, at 10am MST.

November 13, 2018 at 10:19 amJim, you need to read “Fare Thee Well: The Final Chapter of the Grateful Dead’s Long, Strange Trip” I just (reluctantly) did and now it all makes sense given what I saw regarding Furthur from 2010 to FTW in 2015. Its eye opening and don’t doubt its validity. I love Phil’s playing, voice and shows but he transformed into “its my ball & I’m taking it home” after Jerry’s death, spurred on by a waitress who served the band breakfast after sessions at Club Front.

Bands who play together a long time are like families, internal stuff but still tight and a band. See Mick and Keith. Its not Phil’s supposed ball and his choices to do what he wishes as to music? The DEAD were over, they became individuals again. Sorry Phil didn’t get YOUR OK as to who to marry. That was his choice also. A waitress? He should have married what, another musician, an accountant? YOU pick out YOUR relationships by their occupation? How tragic. A sense of being better than others? Jerry certainly didn’t ask the band every time he married. The last one wasn’t to popular. Jerry didn’t care so why should Phil as to YOU? “spurred on” wow he listens to his wife, he should listen to YOU? Very arrogant on YOUR part.Weir never listens to his or the others? My wife is the #1confidant as to me. Furthur,a part time band that everybody knew wouldn’t last like so many other post Grateful Dead bands. Good yeah, great nah. All handicapped from the history of the Grateful Dead coming first. I never listen to Futhur stuff though have quite a bit. It’s either the source the beginning, The Grateful Dead or the post Phil stuff. because both tend to experiment in jams way more. Caught all the Chicago FTW shows, they were smiling everyday on stage.
