Phil Frazier, tuba player for New Orleans’ Rebirth Brass Band, has suffered a second stroke—as OffBeat reported yesterday—and an online fundraiser to help Frazier deal with his medical costs has been launched via the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic & Assistance Foundation.
“Our friend Phil Frazier, leader of the Grammy-Winning Rebirth Brass Band, needs your help as he faces severe health difficulties,” the fundraiser’s page reads. “As a longtime NOMC supporter, Phil and his family have experienced the lifesaving care the NOMC can offer and we need your help to continue that today. As a legendary musician, Phil’s health means everything to his beloved craft and career. Your support helps Phil on the road to recovery.”
