Galactic will celebrate the new year in their hometown of New Orleans, playing a one-off show at Tipitina’s on Dec. 31.
In addition to Galactic’s standard lineup, frequent collaborator Erica Falls will also perform with the band.
Amidst the merriment of New Year’s Eve, there is also a chance the band will take some time to honor their late co-founder Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet. DeClout was a fixture on the NOLA music scene, as well as a premier influence on the funk collective.
Galactic even played a special benefit gig for DeClouet at Tipitina’s in 2013, raising money after he was displaced by Hurricane Katrina. This August, the band also released a new song featuring DeClouet, “Can You Believe,” featuring vocals that were tracked before late singer’s passing.
Tickets for Galactic’s NYE celebration will go on sale Friday, Nov. 9th.
