Bob Weir led his Wolf Bros trio in a Halloween-night performance at the Chicago Theatre on Wednesday offering two sets of Grateful Dead favorites and more, plus an encore that of course featured the Dead Halloween staple cover of Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London.”

Last night’s first set kicked off with “Cassidy” and featured Dead staple “Friend of the Devil,” along with a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Queen Jane Approximately” and a few RatDog tunes, “Even So,” “Two Djinn” and the appropriate “October Queen,” plus the first Wolf Bros run of the Dead’s “Weather Report Suite.”

Set two opened with more RatDog in “Ashes and Glass,” which bookended Roy Hamilton’s ’50s hit “Don’t Let Go.” Also included were another Dylan cover, “All Along the Watchtower,” plus a run of Dead tunes to close out the set, “Wharf Rat,” “China Cat Sunflower” and “I Know You Rider.” The trio then returned for the encore of “Werewolves” and yet another Dylan cut, “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue.”

The Zevon cover has long been a staple of Halloween shows in the Dead universe, first appearing in setlists in the late-’70s then revisited for the holiday by the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band over the years. Other Dead offshoots like RatDog, Dead & Company, Phil Lesh & Friends and more have also opted for the Halloween cover ever since.

See last night’s full setlist below, along with a few videos from the night. Weir and Wolf Bros return to the Chicago Theatre stage tonight for round two.
