Following the September release of their collaborative album Omnisphere, Medeski Martin & Wood and the 20-piece Alarm Will Sound orchestra have announced a Jan. 9 performance at New York’s Brooklyn Steel.
“The more we worked together, the more I realized how perfect this is. How they are, for their universe, very much like us,” John Medeski said of Alarm Will Sound, prior to the LP’s release. “We have a certain connection that’s like family and they’re like a family, so it’s like these two families coming together.”
“We knew we had a winner of an idea,” Alarm Will Sound conductor Alan Pierson added. “A number of [our musicians] have really idolized Medeski Martin & Wood for years, and so there was a lot of excitement in the group.”
MMW’s last substantial run of NYC shows took place in 2017, so this one-off show will be highly anticipated by MMW fans and Alarm Will Sound fans alike.
Tickets for the 16+ collaborative performance will go on sale Nov. 2, with an American Express pre-sale starting on Oct. 31.
